J. Schuyler Marvin – District Attorney


J. Schuyler Marvin was elected District Attorney for Bossier and Webster Parishes on November 5, 2002 and assumed office on January 13, 2003.

He received his BS degree from Louisiana State University and his JD from Southern University School of Law in Baton Rouge, LA.

Schuyler is the son of Mrs. Rebecca (Campbell) Marvin and the late Second Circuit Court of Appeal Judge Charles A. “Corky” Marvin. He has spent most of his professional career in the trenches as a prosecutor. Prior to his election as District Attorney, Schuyler served as an assistant district attorney prosecuting hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases. He obtained numerous convictions for murder, rape, armed robbery, narcotics dealing, domestic violence, child abuse and molestation, and drunk driving.

Schuyler serves on the board of various community organizations. He is a member of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce, National District Attorney’s Association, Louisiana District Attorney’s Association, North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory Commission, and Ware Youth Center.

He is a frequent guest speaker. He has lectured at the Attorney General’s Justice of the Peace Training Conference and taught fellow law enforcement officials at the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy regarding the criminal court process, courtroom procedure and preparation for testimony.

Throughout his legal career, he has worked to protect public safety and expand the rights of crime victims.

Schuyler and his wife, Jodi Comeaux Marvin, have three children, Sam, Kate, and Camille. They attend the First United Methodist Church in Minden, LA.
